When looking for freelance editors, you have a wealth to choose from! So, why work with me? Here’s a few reasons:
Background
I’ve been an avid reader and writer since I was little. There was no doubt in my mind that there was any path for me except one that allowed me to tell stories. After working in academia for over a decade, I decided to take the plunge into full-time editorial work in 2025, after running my successful editorial business part-time since 2019. I also debuted authorially in 2024 with my epic feminist fantasy, Blood Price.
Editing as a career is the only one that makes sense to me. It allows me to do something I’m damn good at (supporting writers and leveling up their work) but also gives me the flexibility I need as a queer, disabled, neurodivergent individual. It is important to me to support marginalized writers and combat the white, cis status quo of publishing. All of my work is based on helping you tell the stories you want to tell and supporting you in the path you want to take, traditionally publishing or self-publishing.
When I’m not writing my own stories or editing others, you can find me: dying repeatedly in RPGs or getting lost doing side quests instead of the main story; adding to my never-ending TBR reading list and attempting to create my own in-home library; taking walks with my dog and staring at birds I can’t name; eating my weight in potatoes, spaghetti or sharp cheddar cheese; getting another tattoo; and thirsting over video game characters.
It’s so nice to meet you! π€
Experience
- I have both a Bachelors and an MFA in Fiction.
- Completed a two year internship with the incredible Naomi Davis, a powerhouse literary agent in the genres of SFF and romance.
- For self-pub, I’ve judged twice for SPFBO. I’m also a self-published author.
- Numerous mentorship experience with other editors and industry professionals.
- Member of Editorial Freelancers Association (EFA) and the LGBT+ Editors Association.
Style
What can you expect when working with me?
- A knowledgeable editor of the genre, from big picture to minute details.
- Someone who can help you no matter what ultimate goals you have, from trad pub, self-pub, submitting to magazines and more.
- An advocate of your work–not just the story we work on together, but you as a creative throughout your career.
It’s important to me not only only level up your writing, but ensure you feel supported in the process. As someone who is neurodivergent and autistic, I’ve learned that so much of the traditional “writing support” and “writing models” don’t work for everyone. I want to help you find what works for you to tell the stories you were always meant to tell. π€
